Brain samples may be collected using spatula technique of by removing the entire brain from the animal. A study to evaluate the flushing collection technique is underway. From a practical point of view this would be the collection method of choice using abattoir sites. Laboratory samples that are collected from bovine spongiform encephalopathy suspect animals arrive at the diagnostic laboratory within 24 hours. 1, record 2, English, - flushing%20collection%20technique

1, record 2, French, - technique%20de%20rin%C3%A7age%20sous%20pression

An appliance for loosening coal by means of high-pressure water and oil. It consists of a round stainless steel bar with small telescopic rams acting on a steel liner in a shothole. The bar is connected to a hand- or power-operated pump placed near the face. The high-pressure liquid from the pump causes the rams and liner to exert a pressure sufficient to loosen or break down the coal. It is a safe method of coal breaking without the use of explosives. It has not, however, made the progress originally anticipated. 2, record 3, English, - coal%20buster

1, record 3, French, - v%C3%A9rin%20hydraulique
