Explosifs à oxygène liquide. Les matières combustibles, telles que la sciure de bois, le liège en poudre, l'amidon, qui servent à les constituer, doivent avoir un grand pouvoir absorbant; elles sont mises sous forme de cartouches cylindriques à enveloppe perméable en papier ou en amiante. Juste avant l'emploi, ces cartouches sont immergées pendant 10 à 30 min dans un récipient renfermant de l'oxygène liquide. Les cartouches imprégnées d’oxygène et devenues alors explosives sont chargées dans un trou de mine comme des cartouches d’un explosif permanent ordinaire. Les explosifs à oxygène liquide sont surtout utilisés dans les mines de fer.
