Knockdown insecticides ... are the insecticides that we use in our homes in pressure-pack spray cans. The insecticide is released into the air in the form of an aerosol or vapour. Knockdown insecticides are also dispersed by mosquito coils and, for larger areas, by fogging and misting. The insect comes into physical contact with the vapour or aerosol, generally when in flight.

Chemicals possess the properties of inhibiting the feeding of insect pests ... these can be classed as antifeedants. The first chemicals noticed with these properties were initially referred to as repellants, but they are not repellants in that they do not merely drive the insect away to another plant but do actually inhibit feeding on that plant. In laboratory tests insects have remained on treated plants indefinitely and eventually starved to death without eating the leaves. In field tests the insects were free to wander elsewhere seeking food ... they either found weed plants to feed on or died of predation and starvation. 8, record 20, English, - antifeedant

1, record 41, French, - francophone%20hors%20Qu%C3%A9bec
Record number: 41, Textual support number: 3 OBS
1, record 41, French, - francophone%20hors%20Qu%C3%A9bec
Record number: 41, Textual support number: 4 OBS
1, record 41, French, - francophone%20hors%20Qu%C3%A9bec

Counting coup was a relatively harmless act of bravery and war honor of the highest grade. Any blow struck against the enemy counted as a coup, but the most prestigious acts included touching an enemy warrior, with the hand or with a coup stick. The term is of French origin from the noun coup (pronounced /ku/) which means a hit, a blow or a strike. The expression can be seen as referring to "counting strikes". Coups were recorded by notches in the coup stick, or by feathers in the headdress of a warrior who was rewarded with them for an act of bravery. 1, record 43, English, - coup%20stick

2, record 56, French, - victime%20d%26rsquo%3Bavalanche

1, record 57, French, - Being%20at%20Home%20with%20Claude

In comb harvesting the equivalent step is the comb selection (eliminating pieces of comb with pollen or even brood - somenthing that should already have been done during harvesting) the removal of bees etc. and the subsequent thorough mashing of combs. 1, record 63, French, - Journ%C3%A9e%20nationale%20des%20patriotes

Textiles can be endowed with antibacterial activity in a variety of ways. Soil-repellent fluoropolymers have hydrophobic properties which reduce soiling on textiles and, secondarily, microbial growth. Small molecules such as silver, zinc, copper and quarternary ammonium compounds show antibacterial activity. Silver-coated dressings have been used in wound care ... Antibacterial gaents may be added to synthetic fibers in the spinning process, but they can also be fixated to supramolecular compounds on the textile surface. Cyclodextrins are ring-like carbohydrates which form complexes with 'guest' substances. They can be used as transdermal collector systems in toxicology monitoring, but also to diminish bacterial contamination at sweat-prone sites (so-called odor-controlling textiles) or as antibacterial textiles. 1, record 64, English, - antibacterial%20textile

One terrible night in Chicago during the late 1960s, he had entered a house with the intent of robbing it, and found student nurses there.... He tied them up.... One by one, he took them into another room, assaulted them, and then killed eight of them, mainly so they could not identify him. 4, record 86, English, - spree%20killer

1, record 96, French, - %C3%A2mom%C3%A8tre
