A rotary engine that extracts energy from a fluid flow. 2, record 13, English, - turbine
Record number: 13, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The simplest turbines have one moving part, a rotor assembly, which is a shaft with blades attached. Moving fluid acts on the blades, or the blades react to the flow, so that they rotate and impart energy to the rotor. Early turbine examples are windmills and water wheels. Gas, steam, and water turbines have a casing around the blades that contains and controls the working fluid. 2, record 13, English, - turbine

A ram air turbine (RAT) is a small turbine and connected hydraulic pump, or electrical generator used as power source for aircraft. In some early aircraft, these were permanently mounted and were the aircraft's principal electrical power source. With the exception of crop dusters, modern aircraft only use RATs for emergency use - in case of the loss of both primary and auxiliary power sources the RAT will power vital systems (flight controls, linked hydraulics and also flight-critical instrumentation). Some RATs produce only hydraulic power, that is then used to power electrical Generators. 3, record 16, English, - ram%20air%20turbine
