L'URSSAF(Union de Recouvrement des Cotisations de Sécurité Sociale et d’Allocations Familiales) joue le rôle primordial de collecteur des ressources du régime général de la Sécurité Sociale. Aujourd’hui, 80 % de la population bénéficie des prestations du régime général de la Sécurité Sociale : soins médicaux, indemnités d’accidents du travail, retraites, allocations familiales. La mission principale des URSSAF est de collecter l'ensemble des ressources destinées à financer le paiement de ces prestations. Près de 198 milliards d’euros sont encaissés chaque année.
