Numeris est le nom commercial du réseau numérique français à intégration de service(RNIS). L'accès de base se présente sous forme de deux prises dites «SO», posées par France Telecom. Ces prises sont connectées à un équipement terminal numérique de réseau, c'est-à-dire en quelque sorte une interface entre le câble utilisateur et le réseau. L'accès de base offre deux canaux numériques(dénommés «canaux B») à 64 Kbits/seconde, destinés au transport des données. Un troisième canal(«canal D») fonctionnant le transport d’information utiles au contrôle du réseau, notamment le numéro de l'appelant.
