The SPOT-A High Resolution Visible (HRV) imager provides acquisition of high-resolution data of the Earth's surface on a global basis. Les satellites de la série SPOT portent deux imageurs à haute résolution dans le visible(HRV) essentiellement identiques qui peuvent être exploités individuellement ou couplés dans divers modes. Ils présentent quatre lignes de détection virtuelles rectilignes et continues comportant chacune 6000 éléments récepteurs. Ces instruments ne sont cependant pas limités à la saisie au nadir. Chaque HRV est muni d’un appareil de pointage à miroir permettant l'imageage dans des directions choisies par l'utilisateur. Chaque imageur HRV peut être exploité suivant deux modes, le mode capteur à barrette multibande(MLA) et le mode capteur à barrette panchromatique(PLA). Le capteur MLA permet de recueillir des données dans trois bandes du spectre : 500 à 590 nm, résolution nominale au sol de 20 mètres au nadir.
