The Archival Climate History Survey (ARCHISS) was launched jointly by the International Council of Archives (ICA), the International Council of Scientific Unions (ICSU), UNESCO and the World Meteorological Organization (WMO) with some support from the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP). The main objective of the ARCHISS project is to locate and retrieve, through improved cooperation between archivists and climatologists, relevant measured and proxy meteorological information, then to digitize them and to make them available to the international community.

Con el fin de mejorar las posibilidades de efectuar predicciones hidrológicas, el estudio de las consecuencias de la variabilidad del clima llevó a que se estableciera un proyecto titulado: "Estudio de archivos sobre la historia del clima" (ARCHISS), que se llevó a cabo en colaboración con la OMM y la ICA (Consejo Internacional de Archivos). Experimentado por primera vez en Europa y ampliado luego a Cuba y México, este proyecto contribuyó a incrementar el conocimiento del clima del mundo en el pasado.

... the Friehe-Grossman Method ... depends upon the accurate calibration and operation of the thermoelectric dewpoint instrument on the aircraft. The method requires that each level leg be independently calibrated. The calibration coefficients are checked for altitude (pressure and/or temperature) dependence. In the case of both IFC-1 and -5 the calibration coefficients were averaged for all legs in the well-mixed layer for a given mission since little altitude dependence was noted for the slope of the calibration curve (which is important to the estimation of the moisture flux).
