Discriminant function analysis (DFA) was used to test how well instream habitat characteristics, and riparian vegetation and bank stability data clustered sites into redside dace population status groups, and to identify influential habitat characteristics. Habitat variables were standardized prior to analysis by subtracting the mean value and dividing by the standard deviation ... 1, record 1, English, - habitat%20variable

Polypore d’hiver. [...] 3, record 2, French, - polypore%20d%26rsquo%3Bhiver

Standing trees are left in a dispersed or aggregated form to meet objectives such as retaining old growth structure, habitat protection and visual quality. Indicator of Change. The indicator is used to denote either (i) a biophysical component or variable which is monitored to detect change in that component or variable or (ii) a calculated index of the condition of all or part of an ecosystem. Such indicators are considered to be generally unrelated to the valued ecosystem components identified for the assessment. Biophysical components or variables that are related to, and used to indicate the condition of, the valued ecosystem components have been termed surrogates. 1, record 4, English, - indicator%20of%20change
Record number: 4, Textual support number: 1 OBS
As an example, suppose an adult fish population has been identified as a valued ecosystem component in an assessment. Surrogate components for this population may include the species' larval population, the species' habitat, or a major prey species. An indicator of change, should the adult population itself or its surrogates not be amenable to investigation, may be species diversity within aquatic communities, or specific conductance of water. 1, record 4, English, - indicator%20of%20change

1, record 4, French, - indicateur%20de%20changement
