Souvent confondue avec la jalousie, la persienne prend la forme d’un panneau ou d’un volet rigide mais articulé tel un battant, alors que la jalousie s’apparente plus au rideau ou au store repliable. Les persiennes sont disposées de part et d’autre de l'ouverture alors que la jalousie se fixe à l'intérieur de l'ouverture à protéger.
