Les analogues des bases puriques et pyrimidiques actifs contre les virus à DNA sont l’aciclovir, le valaciclovir, le famciclovir, l’idoxuridine, la trifluridine, la vidarabine, le ganciclovir et le cidofovir. Ils sont utilisés dans le traitement des infections à virus de la famille Herpes viridae. Il s’agit de l’herpes simplex, de l’herpes zoster (zona) et des cytomégalovirus.
