Acide aminé, constituant des protéines, indispensable au métabolisme de l'organisme humain. Il se trouve en abondance dans tous les animaux et les végétaux. C'est l'homologue supérieure de la valine. 2, record 1, French, - leucine

On appelle «état dynamique des protéines» ce métabolisme protéique permanent, caractérisé d'un côté par une dégradation continue et de l'autre par une biosynthèse permanente des protéines à partir du «pool métabolique des aminoacides» (constitué par les aminoacides d'origine alimentaire et ceux libérés par hydrolyse des protéines tissulaires).
