A reduction of grazing by benthic invertebrates may also contribute to the accumulation of algae in acidified streams. In unstressed lake ecosystems there tends to be a continuous emergence of different insect species available to predators from spring to autumn. In acid-stressed ecosystems the variety of prey is reduced and periods may be expected to occur in which the amount of prey available to fish (and water fowl) is diminished. 1, record 1, English, - acid%2Dstressed

15, no 4, novembre 1982, p. 413). 2, record 1, French, - agress%C3%A9%20par%20la%20pollution%20acide
