Established spring 1986 when Alberta Social Services and Community Health split to form Alberta Social Services and Alberta Community and Occupational Health. At the same time absorbed some functions of the former Alberta Workers' Health, Safety and Compensation. Split September 1988 when some functions formed the new Alberta Health, and Occupational Health and Safety Division functions were transferred to Alberta Environment.
