En textile, on peut citer : le fixage tinctorial, le fixage dimensionnel sur les tissus, le fixage de la frisure sur les fils. Donc, le fixage consiste à conférer certaines propriétés aux textiles. Le «défixage» a pour but d'éliminer certaines anomalies, par exemple, le vrillage des fils en cours de traitement pour permettre leur enroulement.
