Cet apprêt sert à prévenir la formation des bouloches sur un tissu, vêtement. Pour ce traitement anti-boulochage, différents procédés sont appliqués : thermofixation, rasage et flambage, application par foulardage de produits à base d'acide silicique, puis séchage.

OBS

Il est très difficile de définir un «état de boulochage», car il se traduit par la présence de bouloches de formes et dimensions très variables, dont les paramètres dépendent de la nature des fibres, de la contexture du tissu, et des conditions de l'abrasion.
