Le Pyracantha (Pyracanthe) est un arbuste d'allure grimpante souvent utilisé pour cacher les murs, garnir les façades ou orner les balcons. Il produit des fruits rouge écarlate, petits et très nombreux, qui recouvrent pratiquement les trois quarts de la plante. La couleur brillante et l'abondance de ses fruits valent d'ailleurs au pyracanthe le nom beaucoup plus connu de «Buisson ardent».
