A biophoton ... is a photon of light emitted from a biological system and detected by biological probes as part of the general weak electromagnetic radiation of living biological cells.

OBS

Biophotons and their study should not be confused with bioluminescence, a term generally reserved for higher intensity luciferin/luciferase systems.

Le biophoton [...] est un photon d'origine biologique n'étant pas issu de produits d'une réaction enzymatique spécifique. Il s'agit donc d'une chimiluminescence d'origine biologique qui se distingue de la bioluminescence par son abscence de mécanisme enzymatique dédié et par une magnitude ou intensité ultra-faible (de l'anglais, ultra-weak spontaneous photon emission, ou parfois plus simplement ultra-weak photon emission).

OBS

Fritz-Albert Popp, inventeur du terme, définit les biophotons par l'intensité de leur émission à la surface des tissus vivants, qui est de l'ordre de 10 à 1000 photons par centimètre carré et par seconde.
