Canadian Natural Resources Limited (Canadian Natural) and Pond Biofuels are partnering in a three-year project with the [National Research] Council to develop a demonstration-scale algal biorefinery, which will use algae to transform industrial carbon dioxide emissions from Canadian Natural's Primrose South oil sands site into commercial products such as fuel for jet planes and biomass used in feedstocks and land reclamation.
