Le genre de "camescope" est encore discuté : certains auteurs prônent le masculin et justifient tant bien que mal leur choix; d'autres, plaidant pour le féminin, font remarquer à juste titre que la fonction principale de l'appareil est l'enregistrement (la lecture reste secondaire) et retiennent le genre du mot "caméra".
