El arándano rojo de América del Norte, arándano americano […] Vaccinium macrocarpon […], es un arbusto autóctono del este de América del Norte […]. Crece espontáneamente en los terrenos cenagosos y pantanosos y su fruto, una baya roja de sabor ácido de 1-2 cm de diámetro aproximadamente, constituyó en su día una base importante para la alimentación de las tribus nativas de Norteamérica (que lo denominaban atoka).
