Weave derived from cannelé cimpleté with a smooth face weakly marked by transverse ribs. The flushing warp floats above a tabby ground formed by the main warp and the weft. Alternate ends of the flushing warp float, while the remaining ends are bound by the weft.

Le cannelé est obtenu par des flottés de chaîne recouvrant une ou plusieurs duites. Les fils de chaîne du tissu étant très serrés, il se produit des côtes transversales, perpendiculaires aux lisières. Dans cette catégorie de tissu rentre le gros de Tours, le cannelé alternatif, le cannelé d'Inde et un dérivé, le cannetillé. La soie fut la plus souvent employée aux XVIIIe s. pour la fabrication de ce tissu, mais le coton et la laine peuvent être utilisés. L'armure du cannelé sert aussi dans l'industrie de la rubanerie.
