The Crop Averaging Pilot (CAP) Program groups the customer's insured crops, reducing the corporation's risk for insuring those crops. That reduced risk is returned to the enrolled producer as increased coverage. ... Coverage CAP customers must select 80 % coverage at the base price. Coverage you receive above 80 % and up to 90 % is calculated based on risk factors applied to your seeding intentions - the crops and number of acres of each crop you plan to seed. You must endorse all crops you intend to seed. Although organic acres are eligible for CAP coverage, New Crops, forage, greenfeed and irrigated acres are not eligible.
