Les deux autres types de neurones ont l'ensemble de leurs prolongements confinés à l'intérieur du bulbe: on les appelle des interneurones. On distingue, d'une part la cellule périglomérulaire, à axone court et dont le petit panache dendritique se ramifie dans un glomérule et d'autre part la cellule granulaire, dont les deux longues dendrites verticales et opposées sont hérissées de minuscules "épines" cytoplasmiques.
