L'hydratation désigne deux processus chimiques différents. Le premier correspond à l'insertion d'une ou plusieurs molécules d'eau dans un cristal, sans modification de l'espèce chimique contenue dans le cristal. C'est le cas de la transformation du plâtre (2SO4Ca, 1H2O) en gypse (2SO4Ca, 4H2O), qui constitue la prise du plâtre. Le dégagement de chaleur est assez limité. Le deuxième processus est une vraie réaction, transformant l'espèce chimique qui subit l'hydratation en une autre espèce, et se fait avec un fort dégagement de chaleur. 4, record 1, French, - chaleur%20d%27hydratation
