DEF

A group of children which remains in one location, with one teacher (or team of teachers), for all or nearly all instructional activities; to be distinguished from a departmentalized class. (Réseau des traducteurs et traductrices en éducation d'après Good, Carter V. Dictionary of Education, Toronto, McGraw-Hill Book Company, 1973, p. 105).

CONT

Most elementary schools continue to be organized with age-level self-contained classes in the primary grades and departmentalized classrooms at the upper-grade level, whereas high schools continue to be organized by subject areas with several curriculum tracks (academic, general, vocational). (Bolvin, John O. "Classroom Organization", Encyclopedia of Educational Research, 6e éd., Toronto, Maxwell Macmillan Canada, vol. 1, 1992, p. 265).

Domaine(s)
  • Administration scolaire et parascolaire
  • Établissements d'enseignement
  • Éducation permanente
DEF
