La méthode la plus simple de détection des photons [gamma] ou X rétrodiffusés utilise un détecteur conventionnel : compteur proportionnel à gaz scellé […] Après l’amplification du signal, l’énergie choisie est discriminée à l’aide d’un sélecteur monocanal. Il est alors nécessaire de blinder le détecteur par rapport au rayonnement incident pour abaisser le bruit de fond et également d’utiliser des matériaux de montage à bas numéro atomique pour éviter la production de rayonnements X de fluorescence.
