The Legal Services Commission is a Crown corporation established September 5, 1972. Name changed in 1980 to Commission des services juridiques when the Charter of the French Language was adopted, stipulating that only the French names of departments, services, agencies of the Government of Quebec were official. The Commission des services juridiques is under the jurisdiction of the ministère de la Justice.
