Pre-retirement transition leave is a new leave program which allows employees who are within two years of becoming eligible for, an unreduced pension, (an employee who is at least 53 with at least 28 years of pensionable service, or who is 58 with at least 3 years of pensionable service) and who agree to resign at the end of the leave period, to reduce their work week by up to 40 per cent of their normal working hours. For full-time employees, it represents up to two day per five working days. For part-time employees, it represents up to 40 per cent of their part-time hours.
