A ski bowl is an open expanse of an area that appears like a bowl-shaped depression off the side of a mountain. This configuration is made out of a broad, dish-like formation that extends all the way down to the foot of the mountain. Its gentle and sometimes steep sloping shape allows the skier to choose many paths or pistes when gliding down the slope. 2, record 2, English, - bowl
Record number: 2, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The wind is a very important modifier of snow conditions. Areas with deposition of drifted snow should be assessed very carefully: the downwind sides of ridges, hills, and ribs, and local depressions on a steep slope, "caps" of gullies, and notches. Bowls, cirques, and wide depressions have complex wind action patterns that increase the uncertainty when predicting snow stability. 3, record 2, English, - bowl

Record number: 6, Textual support number: 1 CONT
Pockmarks may ... refer to shallow seabed depressions, typically several tens of metres across and a few metres deep. Generally, they are formed in soft, fine-grained seabed sediments by the escape of fluids (gas or water, but mainly methane) into the water column. ... As mud volcanoes are on land, pockmarks in the sea bottom can be associated with earthquake areas. Many scientists suggest monitoring gas emissions and activity from seabed pockmarks because they can help predict strong earthquakes, thus saving lives. 3, record 6, English, - pockmark

Where impounding basins cannot be used, dikes built around the tanks can prevent the spread of liquid. Dikes may be constructed of earth, concrete, or steel built to withstand the lateral pressure of a full liquid head. When several large tanks are in a single diked enclosure, it may be desirable to place "spill dikes" between tanks. 1, record 17, English, - diked%20enclosure
