En étudiant un problème en apparence purement astronomique, nous avons découvert un phénomène très bizarre : les mouvements des particules présentaient dans certains cas une irrégularité tout à fait surprenante. Il s'agissait en fait d'une manifestation de ce qu'on appelle plus généralement la diffusion chaotique : lorsque deux objets se rencontrent et interagissent, leurs trajectoires sont parfois très compliquées et irrégulières, et elles changent de forme très rapidement même pour d'infimes variations des conditions initiales.
