Dîner-débat ne saurait convenir qu'à une réunion où il y a des échanges publics de vues ou d'opinions. D'après son étymologie, le mot symposium trouverait ici son juste emploi, puisque le grec symposium signifie banquet. Mais il faudrait d'abord éliminer les trop nombreux emplois actuellement en cours de ce terme, d'ailleurs assez prétentieux.
