Dans le cas des expériences en champ, au sens large (champ, verger, forêt, etc.), on entend classiquement par bloc un ensemble de parcelles voisines et très semblables les unes aux autres, quant aux conditions de croissance de la végétation. (...) La répartition des objets se fait normalement de façon complètement aléatoire au sein de chacun des blocs, d'où la notion de blocs aléatoires complets, aussi appelés blocs «randomisés» et parfois blocs Fisher(1), et indépendamment d'un bloc à l'autre.
