ECROUISSAGE [3 records]

Record 1 2019-05-31

English

Subject field(s)
  • Metal Rolling
DEF

A light pass given to annealed cold rolled strip to prevent the formation of kinks and stretcher strain markings on subsequent cold working.

CONT

Subsequent to the annealing process, coils of cold rolled steel often require a final temper pass or skin pass rolling step. This involves a controlled light reduction to establish the final thickness, impart the desired surface finish, control strip shape, and obtain the required hardness of the material.

Record 2 2015-03-10

English

Subject field(s)
  • Cold Treatment of Metals
  • Heat Treatment of Metals
DEF

Term used in reference to the increase in hardness and tensile strength caused by plastic deformation at temperatures below the recrystallisation temperature.

OBS

Strain hardening is sometimes called work hardening, produced by cold working.

Key term(s)
  • strain gage pickup

French

Domaine(s)
  • Traitement à froid des métaux
  • Traitement à chaud des métaux
DEF

Record 3 2001-06-28

English

Subject field(s)
  • Cold Treatment of Metals
DEF

Plastic deformation at such temperatures and rates that substantial increases occur in the strength and hardness of the metal visible structural changes include changes in grain shape and, in some instances, mechanical twinning or banding.

Key term(s)
  • cold metal work

French

Domaine(s)
  • Traitement à froid des métaux
DEF
