Facing the canopy into the wind to minimize ground speed.

Hold, Holding. Facing into wind. The direction you should be facing for landing. Your speed across the ground will be at its lowest.

CONT

When you are flying directly into the wind you are HOLDING. You have the slowest ground speed and your ground track is the same as the wind line.

En terrain plat, si vous êtes face au vent, juste la friction de l'air peut parvenir à vous ralentir. Il suffit de vous redresser et de tendre les bras sur les cotés. Vous pouvez ainsi vous immobiliser complètement mais peut-être pas exactement à l'endroit où vous le désirez.

"Quand on se pose dos au vent, il pousse le parachute dans la direction vers laquelle il souffle," explique le pilote de l'UH-60, le Maj Jay Anderson, "mais quand on est sous coupole face au vent, il est presque possible de se diriger," ajoute-t-il.
