The WCT (World Confederation of Teachers) was founded in 1963 as the International Council of Teachers, which was part of the International Federation of Employees in Public Services (INFEDOP). From 1970, this International Council (ICT) changed name and became from then on the World Confederation of Teachers. La CSME [Confédération Syndicale Mondiale de l'Enseignement] a été créée en 1963 sous la forme d'un Conseil International des Enseignants - CIE -, qui faisait partie de la Fédération Internationale du Personnel des Services Publics - INFEDOP - Dès 1970, ce Conseil changea de nom et est, depuis lors, la Confédération Syndicale Mondiale de l'Enseignement.
