Grounds. Pieces of lumber, laths secured to the frame or in the joint of a concrete block wall to permit nailing of the members or panels.

CONT

Nailing blocks. In carpentry construction, wood blocks placed behind the lath and plastering on a wall, especially in angles of corners and at the sides or door and window openings, to furnish a nailing base for finish material such as baseboards.

A flat strip of wood attached to a wall as a base for lathing or plastering, which supports a lath-and-plaster construction.

CONT

Increased insulation level can be provided by cross strapping the underside of ceiling joists with up to 2x4 members. The cross strapping can be applied after the ceiling polyolefin has been installed, possibly eliminating some air ceiling measures.
