The gentle southern slope of Mount Elphinstone, on the Sunshine Coast, is home to the proposed 1500-hectare Mount Elphinstone Protected Area. This is one of the oldest remaining tracts of natural low-elevation forest on this part of the B.C. coast. Low-elevation forest is seriously under-represented in the parks of southwestern British Columbia.
