A fort that was one of the earliest and most permanent of the North West Company’s posts in the Assiniboine basin. It was also the main pemmican depot in the Company’s continental fur trade and provisioned brigades to the Churchill and Athabasca River regions.

Il fut aussi le principal dépôt de pemmican pour les commerçants de fourrures de la Compagnie sur le continent et approvisionna les brigades de canots, destinées aux traiteurs des régions de la rivière Athabasca et de la rivière Churchill.
