In September 1996, Solicitor General Canada and Justice Canada organized a National Forum on Organized Crime, bringing the police, federal and provincial governments, the private sector, the legal community, and academics together. At that time, it was clear that Canada needed a more coordinated approach to fight organized crime, and participants recommended more national coordination in areas like money laundering, cross-border controls, and criminal intelligence and law enforcement. 2, record 2, English, - National%20Forum%20on%20Organized%20Crime

2, record 2, French, - Forum%20national%20sur%20le%20crime%20organis%C3%A9
