OBS

Le concept de fraction atmosphérique a surtout trait à la pollution par le dioxyde de carbone. En anglais, on distingue deux types de fraction atmosphérique : la quantité spécifiquement rejetée dans l'atmosphère par des sources de combustion fossile (marginal airborne fraction) et la quantité globale, d'origine naturelle ou anthropique, rejetée dans l'atmosphère (total airborne fraction).
