GAINE LIBRE [2 records]

Record 1 2016-11-30

English

Subject field(s)
  • Nuclear Fission Reactors
  • Nuclear Plant Safety
  • Radiation Protection
DEF

A can which resists the pressure of the coolant without being supported by the fuel.

CONT

The fuel cladding can be designed to be collapsible or free standing when subjected to the coolant operating pressure. Free standing cladding can undergo long term deformation (creep deformation) under external pressure, leading to a decrease in the radial gap between the cladding and fuel.

OBS

free-standing cladding: term and definition standardized by ISO in 1997.

OBS

free-standing cladding: term extracted from the “Glossaire de l’énergie nucléaire” and reproduced with permission of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Réacteurs nucléaires de fission
  • Sûreté des centrales nucléaires
  • Radioprotection
DEF

Record 2 - external organization data 2011-05-16

English

Subject field(s)
  • Radiation Protection
  • Nuclear Power Stations
  • Compartment - Canadian Nuclear Safety Commission
DEF

An external layer of material applied, usually to a nuclear fuel, to provide protection from a chemically reactive environment, to provide containment of radioactive products produced during the irradiation of the composite, or to provide structural support.

OBS

Aluminium or its alloys, magnesium alloys, stainless steel and zirconium alloys are common cladding materials.

OBS

can; cladding: terms standardized by ISO.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Radioprotection
  • Centrales nucléaires
  • Tiroir - Commission canadienne de sûreté nucléaire
DEF
