GEOEC is one of over twenty specialist councils of the Alberta Teachers’ Association.We are educators interested in promoting global, environmental and outdoor education. Originally formed as the Environmental and Outdoor Education Council, we added the word Global to our name in 1999. We did this to reflect a new emphasis on helping students understand the interdependence of local and global environmental issues, and the connections between the environment and other important areas, such as human rights and international development.
