L'état de l'homologation du propiconazole constitue une question réglementaire actuelle importante, plus particulièrement en regard du Programme de gestion intégrée des céréales (GIC). Le Programme GIC constitue une nouvelle approche pour la culture des céréales, basée sur l'utilisation de variétés à rendement élevé et sur un programme précis d'applications de fertilisants et de fongicides. Dans des conditions idéales, la GIC permet d'obtenir une augmentation significative du rendement et de la qualité par rapport aux méthodes classiques de la culture des céréales, et l'utilisation de fongicides comme le propiconazole est responsable d'une partie importante de l'accroissement du rendement.
