The Graf-Askania meter (...) consists of an aluminum beam 30 cm long maintained in a horizontal position by the couple provided by horizontal springs under torsion near one end. Movements other than rotation about a horizontal axis are prevented by restraining filaments, and the beam position is read photoelectrically.
