The Greater Halifax Partnership is the growth partnership for the Halifax Regional Municipality, with a mandate to market and promote the region. Its priorities are to maintain and grow existing Halifax-based businesses, and to attract new investment. Investors in the Partnership include the local business community, the Halifax Regional Municipality and the Provincial and Federal Governments.

OBS

On 1 April 1996, the Halifax Regional Municipal Government was created to reduce costs and promote greater efficiency; Halifax, Dartmouth, Bedford and the rest of Halifax County were grouped under one mayor and 23 councillors to govern the region's metropolitan affairs, but Halifax's individual identity has been retained.

Le 1er avril 1996, le gouvernement de la municipalité régionale d'Halifax (que l'on peut être tenté d'appeler «le Grand Halifax») est créé afin de réduire les coûts d'administration et doter la région d'une gestion plus efficace. La fusion d'Halifax, de Dartmouth, de Bedford et du reste du comté d'Halifax sous l'administration d'un maire et de 23 conseillers municipaux pour gérer les affaires métropolitaines n'empêche cependant pas Halifax de conserver son identité propre.

Les noms d'origine grecque ou latine comme «Halifax» commencent par un «H» muet. On dit donc «la ville d'Halifax, la citadelle d'Halifax». Seul le titre du fondateur d'Halifax échappe à la règle : George Montagu Dunk est le second «comte de Halifax».
