In December 1992, the federal government launched the Canadian Breast Cancer Initiative (CBCI) with a five-year, $25 million commitment to support research and other activities related to breast cancer. In June 1998, the Health Minister announced the renewal of the initiative with stable, ongoing funding of $7 million per year. En décembre 1992, le gouvernement fédéral lançait l'Initiative canadienne sur le cancer du sein (ICCS) et s'engageait à verser une somme de 25 millions de dollars sur une période de cinq ans pour soutenir la recherche et d'autres activités se rapportant au cancer du sein. En juin 1998, le ministre de la Santé annonçait le renouvellement de l'initiative avec un financement stable et continu de 7 millions de dollars par année.
