… a non-political, non-religious organization dedicated to scientific research in all fields of the cannabinoids [including] biochemical, chemical and physiological studies of the endogenous cannabinoid system [and] studies of the abuse potential of recreational cannabis.

The mission of the ICRS is to (1) foster cannabinoid research; (2) promote the exchange of scientific information and perspectives about cannabis, the cannabinoids, and endocannabinoids; … (3) serve as a source of reliable information regarding the chemistry, pharmacology, therapeutic uses, toxicology and the behavioral, psychological, and social effects of cannabis and its constituents, of synthetic and endogenous compounds that interact with cannabinoid receptors and of any compounds that target other components of the endocannabinoid system.

CIHR is Canada's premier federal agency for health research ... The CIHR concept is internationally innovative and involves a multi-disciplinary approach, organized through a frame work of 13 "virtual" institutes ... CIHR's institutes are not centralized "bricks and mortar" facilities. Instead, these "virtual" organizations support and link researchers located in universities, hospitals and other research centres across Canada. The institutes embrace four pillars of research, including biomedical, clinical science, health systems and services, and the social, cultural and other factors that affect the health of populations.

Il s'agit d'une approche multidisciplinaire, mise en œuvre par l'entremise de 13 instituts «virtuels», chacun œuvrant dans un domaine particulier, réunissant et appuyant des chercheurs poursuivant des objectifs communs [...] Les instituts des IRSC ne sont pas des établissements «de briques et de mortier». Il s'agit d'organisations «virtuelles» qui appuient et mettent en contact les chercheurs travaillant dans les universités, les hôpitaux et d'autres centres de recherche partout au Canada. Les instituts des IRSC portent sur les quatre domaines suivants : recherche biomédicale, recherche clinique, systèmes et services de santé, et facteurs sociaux, culturels et autres qui influent sur la santé de la population.
