The Agri-food Management Institute (AMI) promotes new ways of thinking about agribusiness management and aims to increase awareness, understanding and adoption of beneficial business management practices by Ontario agri-food and agri-based producers and processors. AMI develops business management tools, information, resources, and training for agri-food and agri-based producers, processors, and their business advisors. AMI also creates linkages to existing resources and conducts research to be shared with the industry.

The Agricultural Environmental Stewardship Initiative (AESI) is a three-year (2000-2003) $10 million program provided for by the Canadian Adaptation and Rural Development (CARD) fund that was renewed in 1999. The AESI emphasizes projects that address the regional impacts of agricultural practices on water, soil, and air quality, biodiversity and greenhouse gas emissions. The initiative addresses these issues through education and awareness, technology transfer, and stewardship tools including environmental clubs, environmental management systems, and land use planning. It will not support infrastructure such as manure storage facilities. The AESI is national in scope, but regionally sensitive, and delivered through provincial and territorial adaptation councils.

Cette initiative est offerte au titre du Fonds canadien d'adaptation et de développement rural (FCADR), lequel a été renouvelé en 1999. L'IGA est axée sur les projets visant à étudier les conséquences régionales des pratiques agricoles sur la qualité de l'eau, du sol et de l'air, la biodiversité et les émissions de gaz à effet de serre. Elle permet d'aborder ces questions par l'éducation et la sensibilisation, le transfert technologique, et des outils de saine gestion comme des groupes environnementalistes, des systèmes de gestion de l'environnement et la planification de l'utilisation des terres. Elle ne vise pas les infrastructures comme les installations de stockage du fumier. Quoique l'IGA aie une portée nationale, elle tient compte des particularités régionales, et est exécutée par l'intermédiaire des conseils d'adaptation provinciaux et territoriaux.
