The Pan-African Initiative on Desertification assisted African NGOs to contribute toward the negotiating process for the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification, signed in Paris in September 1994. The International Development Research Centre is one of the international organizations that had contributed significantly to efforts to combat desertification.

Grâce à l'Initiative panafricaine sur la désertification, les ONG du continent ont apporté leur concours au processus de négociation entamé en prévision de la convention mondiale sur la désertification signée à Paris en septembre 1994. Le Centre de recherches pour le développement international (CRDI) est un des organismes internationaux qui ont contribué de manière importante aux efforts déployés pour lutter contre la désertification.
